When you hear the brand name Cadillac, the first thing that goes through your mind would probably be something along the lines of "American Luxury." Even the idea of Cadillac having a muscle car is totally alien to the brand, or so you thought. Although there is no real "Muscle Car" history from this luxury car maker, in recent years, Cadillac has unintentionally created a rather impressive line of them in their V-Series.
Let us start with the Cadillac CTS-V model. This beautiful car is the first of Cadillac's V-Series of high performance cars. First introduced in 2004, the new 2009 version of the CTS-V will include a stunning 6.2L LSA V-8 engine that takes this car into "muscle car" territory. With impressive 12.0 second quarter mile runs and 0-60mph acceloration just under four seconds, this midsized model and its massive V-8 engine make this a truly modern muscle car.
Next in the Cadillac V-Series is the STS-V, their high performance "executive" model. As the more luxurious model in the lineup, the STS-V doesn't quite have the powerhouse that the CTS-V enjoys. A supercharged 4.4L 469 hp V-8 gives this car some serious "go." Turning out very respectable 0-60mph and quarter mile times at 4.8sec and 13.1sec respectively, this luxurious beauty makes its way into the vaunted muscle car ranks. Even with the projected end of this line coming in 2010, selling this car as a muscle car in a used Cadillac sale will bring all kinds of attention to it that you would never normally see.
Last but not least in the Cadillac V-Series of high performance cars, is the high performance version of the XLR, the XLR-V. Regardless of the fact that this is Cadillac's crowning achievement in their ultra luxury model, it does not skimp on performance in any way. While it shares the same supercharged V-8 as the STS-V, the output is slightly lower at only 443 hp. However, this ultra luxurious vehicle puts out a 0-60 time of 4.6 seconds and a faster quarter mile than the larger output engine of the STS-V with a 13.0 second time. Talk about the ultimate muscle car!
Even though the Cadillac brand of cars has never really had any kind of "Muscle Car" history, when you take a look at their high performance models they produce today, you can see that there is a muscle car at the very heart of the V-Series models.
